Meet Your Provider
Psychiatric care built on empathy, science, and a deep belief in your capacity to heal.
I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate psychiatric care through telehealth, meeting patients wherever they are.
"Every patient receives individualized care designed around their unique history, strengths, and goals, never a one-size-fits-all approach."
With a deep commitment to evidence-based practice, I take a holistic approach to mental health, one that honors the connection between mind, body, and spirit. Every patient receives individualized care designed around their unique history, strengths, and goals.
I specialize in a minimum-effective-dose philosophy: prescribing thoughtfully and conservatively to achieve the best outcomes with the fewest side effects. This reflects a core belief that patients deserve both relief and quality of life.
Credentials & Training
A first appointment is a full psychiatric evaluation, not a fifteen-minute checklist. We cover your history, what you have already tried, what worked, what did not, and what you actually want your life to look like. That takes the time it takes, and it is the appointment that determines whether everything after it is useful.
I prescribe to the minimum effective dose. That means starting low, changing one variable at a time, and judging the result by how you function rather than by a symptom score alone. You will always know why a medication is on your list, what it is expected to do, and when we will reassess it. If a medication is not earning its place, it comes off.
I will also tell you when medication is not the answer. Some of what people bring to a psychiatric appointment is better served by therapy, by sleep, or by changing something that medication cannot touch. Saying so is part of the job, and it is why the practice is deliberately conservative with sedatives and with anything that works instantly.
Who I see, and what I do not do
I see adults aged 18 and over, anywhere in Connecticut, by secure video. Patients must be physically located in Connecticut at the time of an appointment. This is an outpatient practice: it is not a crisis service, it does not provide inpatient care, and where a situation needs a higher level of care I will say so and help you get there rather than manage it at a distance. In a mental health emergency, call or text 988, call 911, or go to the nearest emergency department.
Which Genesis Therapeutics this is
Genesis Therapeutics, LLC is a psychiatric telehealth practice in Connecticut, founded and run by Messan Lawson, PMHNP-BC. It has no connection to Genesis Therapeutics, Inc., the California artificial-intelligence drug-discovery company that shares the name. If you are looking for psychiatric care in Connecticut, this is the right one; if you are looking for the biotechnology company, it is a different organisation entirely.

How We Approach Care
Minimum Effective Dose
I believe in using the lowest effective medication dose to achieve optimal results while minimizing side effects, putting your well-being first.
Evidence-Based Practice
Every treatment plan is grounded in current psychiatric research, combining medication management with behavioral approaches like DBT.
Whole-Person Care
Psychiatric care that honors your full humanity, including your spiritual life, cultural background, and personal goals for recovery.
Optional Support
Spiritual Integration β An Option, Not a Requirement
I believe that for some patients, faith and spirituality can be a powerful source of strength and resilience. For those who wish to explore this dimension, I am open to integrating spiritual beliefs respectfully into our work together β always at your pace, always your choice.
